11/30 NGW Wednesday Night Anarchy Debut Show: "A New Era"
This show was broadcast on pay-per-view in Greenville, South Carolina at the Bi-Lo Center and we opened with the NGW CEO Jeff Parham thanking the fans in Greenville for selling out the arena. He then turned it over to Lillian Garcia to sing the National Anthem. It was a great performance by Lillian. We then started the action with Justin Roberts Vs. Spike Dudley
Justin Roberts Vs. Spike Dudley
This match didn't initially have a lot of hype behind it. This was the first time we saw Spike Dudley since his WWE release and he was facing a pretty green rookie from the NGW "Proving Grounds" school named Justin Roberts. Spike quickly established himself as the heel by cutting a great heel promo on the crowd. He had the crowd literally in the palm of his hands at this point.
The match started with a stare down between both men. Despite being half a foot shorter than Roberts, Spike knocked the living daylights out of him with a stiff punch to the face. He then waited for Roberts to get up, performed a chop block and followed it up with a great back body drop. Roberts sold it like he was going to puke up his gall bladder.
The young rookie tried to rebound, but Spike hit a vicious running 3/4 neckbreaker to Roberts, stopping his momentum dead. Roberts then took down Spike with a nice scoop slam followed by a dropkick when suddenly, out of nowhere, Mark Jindrak showed up at the front of the stage watching the match. While Roberts was distracted, Spike hit the low blow with Jindrak clapping in approval.
The crowd had a mixed reaction to the presence of Jindrak, but the match continued. Roberts then hit a series of beautiful snap suplexes, causing Jindrak to hit the ring showing where his allegiance was by beating the **** out of Roberts while Spike had the referee distracted. Spike then proceeded to focus on the back of Justin Roberts. Spike turned to taunt the fans and while he did that, Justin charged Spike... only for Spike to see him and hit a free fall drop. Spike then proceeded to grab Roberts by the hair and deliver stiff punches to his head. Spike eased up long enough for Justin to hit an amazing running Spinning Wheel Kick to Spike. Roberts followed up with a dropkick, but hesitated long enough for Spike to hit a low blow to regain the advantage. Spike then tossed Roberts out of the ring, allowing Jindrak to attack the young rookie. The crowd at this point had started a "Jindrak Sucks!" chant, Jindrak hit a million dollar right hook to Roberts, knocking him out legit on the outside. Jindrak then drug him to his feet and hit a vicious Mark Of Excellence to the concrete floor. Roberts was unable to answer the ten-count as Spike picked up the win. After the match, Jindrak knocked out Roberts again with a vicious chair-shot. While Jindrak and Spike celebrated, the fans booed out of disgust about the opening match ending by count-out.
Winner: Spike Dudley by Count-Out
Alex Adonis Vs. Chris Billington
Not too many Greenville fans were familiar with the internationally acclaimed Chris Billington, but after Alex Adonis cut a very boring heel promo, leaving the fans chanting "SHUT THE **** UP!", Billington got a rather loud cheer just for merely ending the Adonis promo.
Both men locked horns to start the match, with Billington shoving Adonis back into the next county. Adonis appeared stunned by the surprising strength of Billington. He tried to pick him up, only to get punched in the gut and hit with a shoulder block. Adonis tried to follow it up with a Figure-Four leglock, but Billington used his leg-strength to push Adonis away. Both men traded punches before Adonis got the momentum long enough to hit a textbook piledriver on Billington, knocking the Englishman down. Undeterred, Billington regained composure with some stiff forearm shots and whipping Adonis into the corner, following it up with a running knee lift that left Adonis writhing in pain. Billington continued to pour on the offense with some very well-versed technical skills. Adonis was then whipped into the corner where he literally made Adonis' face look like raw hamburger meat and left welts on his chest with a stiff array of punches and chops. Adonis then used a quick knee to the gut followed by an amazing armdrag takedown to regain control.
Billington quickly got up and hit a hard running knee followed by climbing up top and hitting a top rope shoulder block. The fans by this point, were solidly into the match. Billington then hit an excellently performed neckbreaker drop while Adonis sold it equally well.
Billington went to pick Adonis up, but was met with a hard forearm to the face, quickly turning the match back into the favor of the narcissistic Adonis. He then followed up with a Belly to Belly Suplex and moved toward Billington, who was playing possum and got a very near fall out of it. Adonis quickly regained composure by hitting another piledriver, causing Billington to favor his neck slightly. Adonis then tried to go for a Polish Hammer, but Billington had it scouted with an excellent German Suplex using the momentum of Adonis against him. Billington then hit a Lou Thesz Press and tried to follow it up, but Adonis regained control with a running facebuster. Billington then got hit with a very brutal Polish Hammer, leaving him dazed on the mat.
They traded shots back and forth for a bit until Adonis hit a third piledriver, leaving Billington in a world of hurt. He then blocked a Billington punch, countering it with a nice hammerlock. Adonis then hit a hard running clothesline by another hard Polish Hammer that left Billington on Dream Street. Billington quickly regained control with a DDT followed by a leg scissors to Adonis, and they battled for several moments before Adonis caught Billington with the "God Complex" (Dominator). Surprisingly, he didn't go for the pin and just chose to punish Billington in every way imaginable. Adonis then chose to focus on the upper body of Billington by locking in an Elevated Single Leg Crab. Billington mounted a brief comeback, only to get hit with a FOURTH Piledriver, leaving many in the audience wondering if Billington could do anything else. He refused to go for the pin again and was met with an uncharacteristic low-blow from Billington.
Adonis then got up and rebounded with some hard shots to the fiery Englishman. Both men traded punches again until Billington hit the desparation DDT. Billington couldn't capitalize as Adonis hit a second "God Complex"... but refused to go for the pin. Instead, he went for a THIRD "God Complex" and seemed to be ready for a fourth one, but Billington hit the desparation low-blow, stopping his momentum dead.
He then followed up with a high knee and an abdominal stretch. Once again, he couldn't capitalize as Adonis hit an excellent armdrag takedown. Fatigue was starting to set in on Billington, but out of nowhere, he hit the "London Calling" neckbreaker (Curtain Call) and got a very near fall. Billington managed to follow up bythrowing Adonis out of the ring to take a much-needed rest. When Adonis arrived back in the ring, Billington locked in another abdominal stretch and followed up with a Cutthroat Neckbreaker but was too tired to make the cover. Billington planted him with another DDT and got a two and nine-tenths count out of it. He then hit a second "London Calling" neckbreaker to score the well-deserved pinfall victory. After the match, Billington extended his hand to Adonis, who merely turned his back and walked away in disgust.
Winner by Pinfall: Chris Billington
Masahiro Sakoda Vs. D.J. Cassidy w/ Joy Giovanni
This match had some intrigue behind it as this was the first time "The Red Dragon" Masahiro Sakoda had ever wrestled in the United States against the very popular D.J. Cassidy. Add the bautiful Joy Giovanni at ringside with Cassidy and you have a very intriguing match. Sakoda came out to a mixed reaction from the crowd, despite the fact he was supposed to be the heel. The crowd was on it's feet when D.J. Cassidy hit the ring and the fans in the front row were ALL salivating over Joy Giovanni (can't say I blame them!). Sakoda wasted no time by immediately bringing the ladder into play. Cassidy climbed the other ladder, but Sakoda launched himself from the other ladder onto Cassidy, taking both men down. Sakoda then tried to go for the briefcase first, but Cassidy pulled him back down to earth. Sakoda appeared to have injured his ribs on the way down, so they rushed the finish of the match as Cassidy was victorious. The fans were NOT happy with the ending and they chanted "BULL****!" repeatedly. Hopefully we get a rematch between these two.
Winner: D.J. Cassidy
Muhammad Hassan Vs. Christian Vs. Charlie Haas Vs. "The Genetic Specimen" Kaos
After the disappointment of the ending of the ladder match, things went back to normal with a 4 man Elimination Battle Royal to determine who got the next World Title shot at NGW's first pay-per-view in January, "Evolving". Hassan got a GREAT heel reaction from the crowd and the crowd went absolutely crazy for Christian. Charlie Haas also got a fairly decent reaction from the crowd while "The Genetic Specimen" Kaos, got a pretty big heel reaction due to his alignment with Big Bu$ine$$. The match started with Hassan working over Haas and Kaos beating down Christian. All four men were in excellent form and you couldn't have asked for a better performance early on. After ten minutes of intense action, Muhammad Hassan eliminated Charlie Haas with a Northern Lights Suplex. A few minutes later, Kaos hit a violent "Spinesplitter" (Goldberg's spear) to Muhammad Hassan, nearly breaking him in half as he made the academic elimination.
Christian then tried for an Unprettier, but was unsuccessful. Kaos then tried a Powerbomb, but Christian made a desparation Back Body Drop. Christian then took the advantage briefly, only for all his momentum to get killed with a Back Suplex from Kaos. But Christian fought back with a textbook DDT. The advantage was short-lived as Kaos lifted Christian by the throat with both hands and violently THREW him down. Kaos then went for a cross heel hold, but Christian mounted a comeback and tried to lift the massive Kaos, without success.
Both men started trading punches until Kaos locked in a sleeper hold and followed it up with a Fujiwara Armbar, but fatigue set in and Christian took full advantage with a hard spear. Both men started trading blows until Kaos managed to get the upper hand with a brutal series of power moves followed with a brutal Release Sidewalk Slam and a vicious DDT. Kaos then nailed "The Kaos Theory" (Jackhammer) to pick up the three count and the World Title shot at "Evolving" in January. The crowd appeared to be way into this match and Kaos went a long way in establishing himself as a top contender for the NGW World Title.
Winner by Pinfall: "The Genetic Specimen" Kaos
"The Technician" Tyler Smith Vs. Matt Jacobs Vs. Behemoth
TLC Triple Threat/ NGW National Title
This match was a mesh of styles between the technical expertise of "The Technician" Tyler Smith, the brute strength of Behemoth, and the innovative, high-risk offense of Matt Jacobs. What better way to showcase each one of their talents than a TLC match to crown the new NGW National Champion?
The crowd was solidly behind Matt Jacobs and Behemoth was the perfect heel for this match... and Tyler Smith's tweener-ish role made the match more appealing. Jacobs wasted no time diving off the ladder onto Smith and Behemoth as the crowd chanted "HO-LY ****!". Jacobs immediately hit a "Beautiful Disaster" (Twist Of Fate) onto Smith. Behemoth joined in on the fun from the ladder, practically FALLING on Smith and Jacobs, enciting an even louder "HO-LY ****!" chant. Behemoth almost dislocated the kneecap of Matt Jacobs with a knee breaker followed by a throat thrust.
Jacobs then set Smith down on the ladder while Behemoth slammed Smith on his lower back right onto the unforgiving ladder. Behemoth then kicked Jacobs and hit the "Time Bomb" (Crucifix Bomb). While they were writhing in pain on the canvas, Behemoth picked up the ladder. He then proceeded to climb the ladder while Tyler Smith climbed the other side. Smith got knocked off, allowing Jacobs and Behemoth to trade punches off the top of the ladder. Somehow Tyler Smith managed to tip the ladder over, sending both men crashing and burning on the canvas. Smith then hit a Diving Elbow off the top of the ladder onto Jacobs and locked in "The Technicality" (The Rock's Sharpshooter) on him. Behemoth grabbed the ladder again as he and Tyler Smith trade punches, resulting in Smith hitting the Hip Toss to end all hip tosses of the top of the ladder onto the canvas below. Matt Jacobs then came out of nowhere as both men got to their feet and landed an awesome suicide dive, leaving the crowd chanting "THAT WAS AWE-SOME!". Jacobs then threw Behemoth on the ladder and somehow slammed him on top of the ladder. The only way to describe the action the next few minutes was absolute carnage.
Things finally settled down as Smith and Jacobs started trading blows while Behemoth regrouped. Jacobs and Behemoth took another ladder bump courtesy of Tyler Smith. He then continued to beat the crap out of Jacobs while Behemoth regained his bearings. Behemoth and Jacobs chanced the ladder again, resulting in Behemoth hip tossing Jacobs off the top of the ladder.
Shhortly afterward, Smith and Behemoth fell off the ladder as Jacobs was the one tipping it over this time. Jacobs then landed an awesome suicide dive off the top of the ladder and shortly afterwards, Smith took a SICK table bump courtesy of Behemoth. But somehow he mustered up enough energy to do an insane superplex off the top of the ladder to Behemoth as the fans chanted "THIS IS AWE-SOME!".
Jacobs then did a rolling clutch to get a two and a half count from the referee. Behemoth hit a nasty big boot that busted open Tyler Smith with a crimson mask. During the chaos, Jacobs hit a 2nd "Beautiful Disaster" to Smith but got caught with the "Time Bomb" from Behemoth, as the monster got the three count and the NGW National Title.
Winner by Pinfall: Behemoth
Ian Sydal w/ Michelle McCool Vs. Giant Maxx
Last Man Standing/NGW Iron Man Title
This was a "Last Man Standing" match for the NGW Iron Man Title and it was a true David Vs. Goliath between the 6'5" and 400 pound Giant Maxx and the 5'9" and 182 pound Ian Sydal. Ian was accompanied to ringside by his girlfriend, Michelle McCool, who many fans at ringside were drooling over. G-Maxx wasted no time by immediately pounding Ian's head on the canvas. Ian put in a valiant effort, but it just wasn't enough to beat the massive Giant Maxx.
Winner: Giant Maxx
NGW CEO Jeff Parham hit the ring and played to the crowd a bit before announcing who the mystery contestant was in the Steel Cage Match to crown the new NGW World Champion. As soon as he announced "Y-2-J", the place lit up!
J.T. Whiplash Vs. Rob Banks Vs. Chris Jericho Vs. Damien Black
Fatal 4 Way/ Steel Cage Match/ NGW World Title
Brutality was the only way to describe this match and chaos reigned supreme for twelve minutes until Damien Black and Rob Banks escaped the cage at the same time. Both men argued and engaged in a pull-apart brawl with Chris Jericho getting involved and J.T. Whiplash hitting anyone within reach with a chair. NGW CEO Jeff Parham came out and said that he would make a decision on next week's Wednesday Night Anarchy taping and until then, the title was vacant.
