I've been having a problem with a particular Max Drive game save lately, and I haven't been able to figure it out. It's the one from the main site under the Game Saves section entitled: "Undertaker 11 CAWs Save for SVR2006 Created by Dickdastardly"
Each time I download the NTSC version of it and transfer to my Max Drive and uncrush it to my memory card, it shows up as an XPort file in the memory manager screen. And when I try and load up the game with it, it doesn't detect it as being a valid save. The weird thing is, even when the file is just on my PC, and I open it up in the PS2 Save Builder program, to the right of the window, it shows that same XPort icon, even though it is supposed to be a NTSC Max Drive file. Recently though, I've gotten a few Winning Eleven saves from Gamefaqs, and they also showed up as XPort icons in the memory manager, yet were detected and successfully loaded when I started each respective game. So, I'm thinking this isn't exactly the issue here with this save.
I asked a couple of people about this, including the creator of the CAWs, but no solution has been found. Has anyone else successfully used the NTSC Max Drive files for this save, and if so, does anyone have an idea of what may be the problem or what I might be doing wrong? I've already transferred multiple Max Drive files for this game, and they've all worked successfully, this is the only one that's been giving me a hard time. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I have used a file that said xport and had no problem. Sounds like you know what your doing so my guess is that the file being downloaded is bad or something. Try this. Go to the Save Builder program and open the file in question. Look at the Root ID. If it says BASLUS-21286SD7 then it is infact the NTSC version of the save. If it says BESLES-53676SD7 it is in PAL format and hasnt be converted correctly. You would need to Change it using PS2sidc. Instructions in the convert save FAQ

That was it! At first I thought the Root ID matched up, but then I noticed that it was in fact the PAL one. So, I converted the file to an .xps, opened it in PS2sidc, changed the ID, and then converted it back to a Max Drive file in the Save Builder program. And as I hoped, it worked in-game. Very cool.
Thanks for the help.
