**Big GTA3 Spoilers, mild San Andreas spoilers**
First you meet Catalina. You killed her in GTA3, remember? It was in the last mission.
Then you see her with a guy named Claude. He is the main character from GTA3. The main character was Tommy Verceti. He is also in Vice City.
You see Catalina shoot Tommy at the beginning of GTA3. Thats y u have to kill her.
In this game, Catalina says that her and Claude are planning on making a trip to Liberty City. So if they are together, Catalina is alive, and they are planning to go to Liberty City, then this must be before GTA3, right? However GTA3 takes place in the 1970's, and GTA: San Andreas takes place in the very early 1990's. So whats up with that?

lol that is screwed.. you got it all wrong. Claude is not Tommy Vercetti.
First was Vice City, 80s Then San Andreas, Early 90s Claude comes along with Catalina. They go to Liberty Then GTA3, 90s Claude is shot by Catalina, so you kill her at the end of the game
Tommy Vercetti is a Vice City exclusive, he's not the same guy
Some people think it is him, but I don't think it is.. looking at everything it just doesn't seem to fit. Most people think it's a different guy now, and Rockstar denied them being the same. Though I do think Vercetti was based on Claude using the same kind of graphics etc which is why they are similar.

No man. GTA3 was in the 70's. Maybe 60's. Play the game again.

haha don't want to make this a continual no it isn't yet it is argument, but look it up! GTA3 is most definitely late 90s.. no doubt about it you've got the wrong info Edit: *END OF GTA3 SPOILERS* I just thought of some proof! On one of the casino missions in San Andreas I saw Maria, but you kill maria at the end of GTA3, therefore GTA3 must be after San Andreas ;D Oh and also if Catalina shot you at the beginning of GTA3 saying "the sex was fun but you're just a small time" or something like that, and if you were fighting Catalina at the end of GTA3, , it's obviously occuring AFTER they dated, and why would he be dating her again if she'd done all that to him? They are just getting together in GTA San Andreas, so San Andreas must be after GTA3. Plus in San Andreas didn't Catalina say she was going to Liberty City with Claude.. and then in GTA3 that's where they are. All that kinda proves that GTA3 is after San Andreas, we know San Andreas is in the early 90s, so GTA3 msut be in the late 90s which is what I originally thought ;D

Yer Wrong. You dont kill Maria at the end of GTA3, you kill Catalina. Maria is that Mafia guy's daughter and she is the one that warns you that Leone is trying to kill you. She tells you to meet her at a dock and she is with her friend Asuka. Thats where you first meet Asuka. Then you drive the boat over to Asukas place.
And at the beginning of the game it says its in the 70's.

I was wrong about 1 thing. It does NOT say that it is in the 70's at the beginning of GTA3. I just played it and I was thinking of Vice City. However, Im still looking into this whole puzzle. I will post when I have more info.

Ive looked into it more, and after looking at a walkthrough to GTA3, its all coming back to me.
In the last main Mission on GTA3, you have to kill Catalina. But, she has taken Maria hostage. When you get on top of the building where Maria and Catalina are, Catalina jumps in a helicopter thats dropping bombs. You have about 1:00/1 minute to shoot her helicopter down with a rocket launcher. Then it takes you to a cutscene where you and Maria are walking away together up on the dam (dam, not damn).

Yeah well Catalina is dead then, meaning she can't be in San Andreas if San Andreas is after GTA3. Plus you did kill Maria, remember they walk off the dam together and she keeps going on complaining about her hair, you hear a gunshot. So he did kill Maria because she was winding him up. That was funny actually. If either of them died, they could not be in San Andreas, unless GTA3 was after San Andreas. My story fits together quite nicely ;D

Im starting to come to the conclusion that u are right. I do remember him killing Maria at the end now. That was funny.
But I really think that Tommy Verceti is in GTA3. I am also under the impression that GTA3 Takes place in the 70's.

As I just explained, GTA3 could not possibly be in the 70s. If it was, then Maria, Salvatore Leone and Catalina magically come back to life 20 years later. Yeah remember you killed Salvatore Leone too, just after you meet Asuka you have to go back to Portland and kill him. But if you work for him in San Andreas, GTA3 has got to be AFTER San Andreas. San Andreas is early 90s, GTA3 MUST be late 90s.
You could be right about Tommy Vercetti but I'm almost positive it's not him

Im still thinkin its Tommy. And as for time, I was thinkin that the Rockstar people were nakin these mistakes. I was thinkin that technicaly since those people are in the game, GTA3 is after SanAndreas. But I was also thinkin that since GTA3 is (in our time) before SanAndreas, that the games are goin in time order. For example:
GTA3 - 70's Vice City - 80's San Andreas - 90's

No you got that but wrong lol. Why would Rockstar make such an aweful cockup and don't you think the critics would have noticed GTA3 - Made in the present day sort of time (Late 90s +) Then they thought lets have a change and make a game from an earlier period, GTA Vice City, 1980s Then they made the massive game of San Andreas, and to tie up the last 2 games they used characters from both and made a story out of it, showing things GTA3 people did BEFORE GTA3, and things Vice City people did AFTER Vice City Claude and Tommy Vercetti look similar but it's not the same person, he's got a different name for starters why would they do that? ;D

OK. I finally agree with u on the time setting. The critics would have noticed it.
But in GTA3, the character doesnt even have a name. But with the time order, I guess his name would have to be Claude in GTA3.
OK. Were finally done. You win. It took a lot, but I finally realized it. I honestly did think that Tommy Verceti was in GTA3 and GTA3 was in the 70's.
